Nkawie(Ash),Oct.21, GNA - Bright Oppong a 27-year-old steel bender who allegedly raped a 26-year-old hunchback was last Tuesday remanded in prison custody by an Nkawie Circuit court.
Oppong pleaded guilty to raping the hunchback and would re-appear on October 26.
Police Chief Inspector Robert Yitamkey prosecuting told the court presided over by Mr Noble Nkrumah that the victim, was a physically challenged dressmaker at Abuakwa while the accused was a steel bender at Dadiese a section of Abuakwa.
He said on October 8, this year, Oppong approached the victim and requested to have sex with her but she turned down the request. The prosecution said the accused however insisted on having sex with the victim and forcibly had sex with her on the floor of a room. Police Chief Inspector Yitamkey said the victim managed to make a call on her mobile phone, which invited witnesses to the scene and the case was reported to the Abuakwa police.
He said the police discovered bloodstains and a broken pot on the floor, which indicated that Oppong used force to have sex with the victim therefore; he was arrested and after investigations charged with the offence.
