The Valley View University (VVU) at the weekend celebrated the life and retirement of Pastor Joe Aaron Hagan, the former Deputy Registrar of the University after serving for more than 35 years.

In a mood of celebration amidst testimonies, thanksgiving and praises, various professional bodies, institutions, families and friends came in to poor their words of commendation for the selfless, dedicated and resilience work of Pastor Hagan.

Pastor Professor Daniel Bediako, the Vice Chancellor of VVU, with whom Pastor Hagan is currently working on contract, as the Special Assistant to the Vice Chancellor, commended Pastor Hagan and his family for the zealousness displayed towards performing their task for the progress of the University.

He used the opportunity to urge all who were in active service to work assiduously as Pastor Hagan worked tirelessly to ensure that every task assigned him was judiciously accomplished beyond expectations.

Prof Bediako said the goodness of the Lord was shown through the service delivered by Pastor Hagan as he had worked in many capacities both in the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church and the VVU.

He said retiring as the Deputy Registrar of the University in charge of University Relations, Pastor Hagan brought wealth of experience to bear in his work and distinguished himself in every capacity.

Pastor Odomse Akuoko-Nyantakyi, the Registrar of the University, described the august audience present at the event as the testament of the goodwill of Pastor Hagan towards commitment to service in the Church and the country at large.

He said Pastor Hagan's selflessness, compassion and people centeredness has made deep impressions in the minds of who encountered him, adding that many Ghanaians had benefitted from his humanitarian service.

Pastor Dr T. T. Ocran, the President of the Southern Ghana Union Conference of the SDA Church, described the celebrated man as 'somebody who was fun to work with'.

He said Pastor Hagan, who was ordained as a minister of the gospel at Tamale SDA Church on March 15, 1986, became the 'face of the Church' as he represented the Church in all relevant stakeholder meetings.

Mr Albert Kwabena Dwumfuor, the Organising Secretary of the Ghana Journalists Association, testified of the commitment level of Pastor Hagan towards his work, adding that the younger generation have learnt significance values from his dedication to excellence in service.

Mrs Adelaide Anno-Kumi, the Chief Director at the Ministry of Interior, urged all young people to learn from Pastor Hagan's commitment and dedication to work in satisfaction to divinity and the humanity.

Many more individuals were present at the occasion to celebrate the man, who had touched many lives right from his days in the Northern Region right to the days in the University and showered on him gifts of many forms.

In his remark, he said, he was excited and blessed for the words and gifts, adding that indeed leadership, which required hardship, selflessness and faithfulness paid great earthly and heavenly dividends.

He urged all to remember that no man was an island pointing to that fact that he achieved all what was testified through the support from other people he had relied on during his years of service.
