B/A NHIA Offices Receive Data Card Printers

The government has provided 46 new data printers to support the National Health Insurance Scheme's (NHIS) operations in its 21 offices in the Brong-Ahafo Region.

Sunyani, Techiman South and Dormaa Central Municipalities received three each while the remaining 18 district offices also got two each of the printers which are more robust and efficient than the current ones being used.

Speaking at a short presentation ceremony, Mr Evans Opoku-Bobie, the Regional Minister designate, expressed appreciation to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his visionary leadership and also to the Management of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) in the region for their hard work and dedication to the course of the Scheme.

He said the new printers would make the numerous complaints of 'no printers' at the District offices 'a thing of the past' and advised the District Managers and their staff to take very good care of them.

Mr Opoku-Bobie commended 'the good work' of health providers in the region who were providing quality health care to the people and announced that the government had paid claims up to December 2017.

'Within few weeks you are also going to receive claims of first quarter 2018 and we will continue to improve upon the payment of claims to the facilities', he said.

Mr Joseph Mensah, the Regional Director of the NHIA, said the region has been able to register about 800,000 members as at June this year and expressed the optimism that the arrival of the machines would greatly improve their performance to achieve the region's 2018 target of 1,365,336 by the close of the year.

As part of the presentation programme, a day's sensitisation workshop was organised by the Regional Office of the Scheme for the district managers.
