Kpando, Oct.20, GNA - There are indications that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) would seek a working relationship with other opposition parties in its bid to unseat the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2008.
Former President Jerry John Rawlings, Founder of the NDC gave the hint at the sixth Volta Regional biennial delegates conference of the party at Kpando.
He said the freedom and justice, the citizenry had looked forward from the Government had not been realised therefore; it was incumbent on the opposition parties to act to save the situation.
President Rawlings said the NDC bore the greatest responsibility to the citizenry to work seriously towards its return to power.
"But before that could happen, the party should deal with its internal weaknesses in order to avoid a repeat of the omissions and commissions that contributed to its undoing in 2000 and 2004," He added. The Founder of the NDC said, the issue of unity within the party should find expression in party loyalty.
He noted that the position of its Presidential Candidate in the 2004 elections was weakened by the failure of some party 'big wigs' to support him to prosecute the campaign.
"It is obvious that a leg that has developed gangrene, should be amputated to save the rest of the body. Light and darkness cannot co-exist, there could be no compromise between right and wrong," President Rawlings stressed.
