Abdul Aziz Mohammed, an aspiring National Coordinator of Zongo Caucus in the upcoming national congress of opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has picked the number one spot on the ballot.

His position was made known following the balloting proceedings carried out by the committee in charge of the elections.

This was done after all the six aspirants vying for the position, had gone through vetting process last Friday, September 21, 2018, and cleared to contest the elections.

Speaking in an interview with GhanaWeb, he described the feeling as super exciting after securing the number one spot. The Zongo Commando said his victory was just days away.

"I am number one on the ballot. I am already leading the team on the ballot, and by God's grace, i will lead after the polls. This is a devine calling, I cannot turn my back at it. I am out to serve my party, the country and therefore there is no turning back", he said.

The vibrant young politician observed with melancholy the level of despondency and disappointment hitting rooftops in the country and appeal to delegates of the party to elect competent people to lead the party in rescuing the country.

"We need competent people to shoulder the party. We need new initiatives, ideas and practical solutions required to face the danger been posed by our opponents. Delegates should not therefore celebrate mediocrity by electing incapable hands. We must embrace 2020 elections with all the arsenals at our disposal including quality human resources to be at the helm of affairs. This government must give way in 2020", he emphasized.

He said although the delegates would decide which of the aspirants would make it into the next national executive team, he was prepared as a team player to work with any of the team members.

"The most important consideration is the ultimate agenda to wrestle power in 2020, therefore it would be an onerous task to join hands with the others to produce results. We need victory more than the NPP. We need victory for mother Ghana. We need victory for the suffering masses and we need victory for God because service to humanity is service to God", he said.

He noted that the victory of NDC was currently under construction following the failed promises exhibited by the Nana Addo led NPP government.

Consequently, members of the party, he explained would just have to push a little and the unblemished victory project would have completed in 2020.

"In 2021, the NDC would be in government. This means that, all our members must embrace the next general elections as serious as possible. They must connect with electorates and begin the campaign right away", he pointed out.
