Why Ghana Is Under The Yoke Of Economic Oppression

Nana Akufo Addo: Can his administration save Ghana from more economic disaster?Nana Akufo Addo: Can his administration save Ghana from more economic disaster?

In mine opinion, politics in Ghana has entered Anthropocene, whereby bad governance of successive activities of leaders has created economy pressure on Ghanaians.

The political chaos in Ghana at the moment signifies that the economic system is collapsing or has already collapsed.

Changing governments create a lot of difficulties in every country. There is no way Nana Akufo Addo’s government will solve Ghana’s economic problems within this shortest period he came to power.

However, Nana Akufo Addo needs to understand why Ghanaians are impatient today. In the political history of Ghana, or probably Africa, there is no African leader ruling a country with such a large number of ministers.

Appointing a total number of 110 people to serve as ministers, ministers of state and deputies in your administration means he was going to do something special, Ghanaians have never seen in the political history of Ghana, but we are witnessing the economy of Ghana in a serious crisis.

No matter how bad the economy of Europe or America is, food is always cheap, therefore, Europeans and Americans don’t urge for a change of government, unless they don’t like you as a leader. Just 10 Euro can prepare one a meal which could last for some days, yet converting 100 Euro in Ghana Cedis can't buy enough to feed.

For example, many Americans don’t like Donald Trump not because they are hungry but because of his policies and careless talks, but Ghanaians want a change of government because they are hungry. It’s a fact, Ghana’s Cedi can’t take you to the end of the month as a worker.

It’s hard for every Ghanaian government in power to say to the public “We sorry, things are not going well, but please exercise patience,” instead, they will preach that things are going well because “them belly full.’

Imagine the collapse of several banking institutions and many people who have lost their jobs in the country, yet the NPP will convince Ghanaians that they are doing better than the NDC.

At one time, I used to read in the Ghanaian papers every day that Nana Akufo Addo is cleaning up the mess left by the former leader, John Mahama. 110 ministers aren't enough to clean a mess?

Apart from corruption which has drastically affected Ghana’s economy, there is also no truth in Ghanaian politics. Pure hypocrisy has played a key factor in destroying Ghana’s politics.

It doesn’t make sense a country with such good exportable resources like Ghana will suffer such an economic crisis, but the truth is without the interest to seek the right solutions to boost economic growth, Ghana will plunge into more economic crisis.

The present economic situation will scare more investors, thus, Nana Akufo Addo has a burden on his shoulders to convince the world that Ghana is a country worth to do business with.
