The Volunteer Media Communicators (VMC) of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), have rescinded their decision not to speak any longer for the party.

This was announced by executives of the group at a press conference on Wednesday.

Speaking to Citi News, an Executive member of the group, Eric Wiafe Akenteng, said the change in decision follows talks with top party officials.

According to him, the assurances by some leading members of the NPP were enough for them.

“It was an opportunity meeting a lot of these party leaders, and the assurance that we have been given is enough for us. We are party members, and we trust what they told us. We believe what they told us. Most of them were even surprised that the issue had come this far because most of the issues were petty things that the party could have solved earlier.”

Background
Last week, members of VMC from various constituencies in the Ashanti Region conveyed at the Abis Park in Kumasi and set ablaze mobile phones as a sign of an end to their volunteerism.

Over 100 mobile phones although some looking very old and faulty, were set on fire.

The move according to the NPP serial callers was to get the party leadership to reward them for their loyalty.
