Serendipalm Foundation Award Educational Lifeline Scholarship To Three Students In Akyem Asuom

Three academic promising students in the Akyem Asuom community in the Kwaebibirem Municipality of the Eastern region have benefited from an educational scholarship from the Serendipalm Fair trade Committee, a subsidiary of the Serendipalm Foundation, a non-profit organization, an associate of Serendipalm Company Limited, a traditional and community based organic and fair-trade palm oil processing business in Akyem Asuom. The scholarship scheme forms part of the company’s cooperate social responsibilities to the community in which it operate and its quest to develop the communities.

In furtherance of its pledge to assist brilliant but needy students annually to pursue higher educational at the tertiary institutions the company instituted the scholarship this year and have awarded a scholarship package of Six Thousand, Nine Hundred and Twenty-nine Ghana Cedis (GH¢ 6,929. 00) to cover the tuition, stationery and hostel of the awardees educational cost. As part of the package the Foundation would provide mentoring, coaching, career guidance and counseling for the students at the end of every semester when they are on vacation.

At a short but a memorable ceremony to award the scholarship to the students at the Serendipalm Canteen, Mr. Emmanuel Anokye, the Chairman of the Serendipalm Fair-trade Scholarship Committee congratulated the students for their good academic records that have yielded them this award for further education in the University and the College of Health. He advised the awardees to learn hard and avoid bad behaviours whiles on campus of study to continue benefiting from the award scheme to make them a better future leaders for their communities and the country. He outlines the scale for students to continue receiving the scholarship package from the scheme.

Mr. Lawrence Acquaye, the Director of Serendipalm Foundation, also admonished the awardees to study hard and make good use of the opportunity given them and ensure to demonstrate good academic prowess in their institutions and become good role models in their community.

The awardees and their parents expressed their outmost happiness for the honour done them through the offer of the scholarship by the Serendipalm Fair-trade Foundation.

“I am very happy for this great opportunity in the life of my education and the dream of becoming a Material Engineer in the future. I thank the Serendipalm Fair-trade Scholarship for the opportunity and promise to study hard to realize the dream said Richmond Affum, a student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology”. Jennifer Awerewaa, the only female student who was part of the awardees express her joy and promise to study hard and become a responsible nurse for the community.

Alexander Tetteh-Quainor, a student of the University of Education, Winneba expressed his joy and thanked the Serendipalm Fair-trade Scholarship for this great opportunity in realizing his dream. Madam Awerewaa, on behalf of the parents commended the Serendipalm Fair-trade Scholarship Foundation for the gesture towards the community development in education and promise to provide the necessary support as parent to help their wards excel in their academics.

Community Development
The company since its inception for a decade now has assisted the various communities in which they source their raw materials in the areas of education, health, water and sanitation and other economic empowerment projects. The company sources organic cocoa beans for export and fresh fruit bunches of oil palm from small-holder farmers for processing into crude palm oil at their processing unit situated in Asuom and through this provide employment and financial sustainability for the community at large.
