PBC Cocoa Farmers Health Screening Outreach Ends In Brong Ahafo

The marathon free health screening outreach initiated by PBC Ltd in partnership with Chemico ltd, New Okaff industries ltd. and Rainbow Agrosciences has ended successfully with more than 2000 beneficiaries served.

The initiative which targeted cocoa and mixed crop farmers in Goaso and Wamfie Districts was structured as a free health screening exercise cum mini-fair conceived by PBC ltd and the aforementioned sponsors.

The collaboration is mainly hinged on the need to promote preventive healthcare among farmers whilst creating an avenue for effectual farmer/input dealer interaction.

The sponsors, Chemico ltd, New Okaff industries ltd. and Rainbow Agrosciences took advantage of the mini-fair to make snap sales as farmers trooped to their respective exhibition stands to access discounted products. The sponsors exhibited a wide range of agro input products ranging from fertilizers to pesticides.

As part of the main event structure, all sponsors took turns to sensitize farmers on the importance of strict adherence to stipulated guidelines for the safe administration of agrochemical products and the hazards that could result from improper handling of such products.

Products like Akate Master and Cocosett by Chemico ltd, AF Confidence by New Okaff Industries and Colam by Rainbow Agrosciences headlined the mini fair as farmers took advantage of the discounted prices to shop for the products which are immensely popular among farmers owing to their efficacy.

According to organisers, the next phase of the project will be rolled out in Bekwai, Ashanti Region, before reaching out to farmers in the Western Region.

Corporate Affairs Manager for PBC, Mrs Nanette Aryee explained that the project will target 2000 farmers each in the Ashanti and Western Regions.

“Judging by the immense results from the first phase of the project, we have set ourselves a combined target of 4000 beneficiaries’ for the next phase of the project in the Ashanti and Western Region. We are confident that we can deliver even better to ensure that our esteemed farmers in these regions benefit immensely from the project.” she said.

The PBC Cocoa Farmers Screening Outreach is a grand corporate social responsibility initiative collectively sponsored by PBC ltd, Chemico ltd, New Okaff Industries and Rainbow Agrosciences. Managed by Farmers Hope Foundation, the initiative is set to be annual endeavor that will see all firms aboard join resources to improve farmer-welfare across the country.
