The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Aowin Municipality of the Western Region, Mr. Samuel Adu Gyamfi has rendered a visit to over 7 schools under the Assembly to monitor enrollment of fresh pupils as 2018/2019 academic year begins.
The exercise which is termed as "my first day at school" saw the MCE together with the representative of Circuit Supervisors of Ghana Education Service (GES) tour some schools in the Municipality to give encouragements and motivation to the newly admitted pupils at the basic schools particularly kindergarten and primary one pupils and also refresh them with drinks and biscuits.
Addressing the pupils, the MCE said, as part of the His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo's initiative to ensuing quality education in the country and also making in it accessible for all has introduced Free Senior High Education since assuming office last year.
Over 1,090 newly kindergarten and primary one pupils have had admissions into various basic schools in the Aowin Municipality this Academic year.
The MCE was pleased how active the pupils were at "My first day at School" when he threw the question at them 'who is the President of the Republic of Ghana' most of the pupils were able to answer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, he applauded and advised them to be regular at school.
Mr. Adu Gyamfi praised the teachers for the efforts they are making to ensure that the pupils were provided with quality education.
He, however, advised them to focus more on giving them quality education at the basic levels.
Some of the schools the MCE and his entourage visited were Nkwanta D/D primary, Amonie Anglican primary, Amonie D/A Primary, Kwawu R/C primary, Boinso Methodist primary and Boinso Presbyterian Primary and well as Nana Brentu Senior Technical School.
Mr. Wayoe Abednego, the Circuit Supervisor for Omanpe expressed his profound gratitude to the MCE and the government of Ghana.
He said the exercise would serve as motivation for the students to attend school regularly.
He suggested that more of such initiatives should be implemented in order to get parents to enrol their wards at the various schools in the Municipality.
