Hajia Humu Is The Real Deal For The NPP Deputy National Organizer Position
17.09.2018 LISTEN

Former first lady of the United States of America, Michelle Obama once said “no country can ever truly flourish if it stifles the potential of its women and deprives itself of the contributions of half of its citizens.” Hajia Humu is one such woman that needs to be encouraged rather than stifled. She is undoubtedly smart, innovative, welcoming and resourceful. Not only is she measured in her utterances but also very tactful in her executions. Gifted with a rare aggressive demeanor, she has always fostered healthy and cordial ties which endear her to the masses and define her leadership mettle.

The decisive and emphatic victory won by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the just ended national delegates’ conference in Koforidua is a clear indication that the internal and external democratic structures of the NPP are firm and solid. Let me seize this opportunity to express my heart-felt gratitude to all the aspirants, the H. E. Nana-Addo led government, Nation Council, National Executive Committee, delegates, members and sympathizers of our great party, for conducting ourselves in a way that depicts the rich democratic value and ideals laid down by our forebears. The excitement of this great feat is yet to settle but there is work to accomplish and already, there are vigorous lobbying from all corners for the deputy positions to be filled. Some credible and equally competent names are flying here and there with some interest groups working secretly to promote some particular personalities for the various positions.

Any party member has a right to aspire to occupy any of the vacant positions. However, we the masses equally have an obligation to question whether or not such aspirations serves the best interest of the people, party and the country at large. It is against this background that I write to add my voice to the numerous calls in the search for a viable deputy national organizer from the North to partner Mr. Sammi Awuku for a resounding victory in 2020 and beyond. I want to suggest the need for NEC and the party’s hierarchy to choose Hajia Humu Awudu as the next deputy national organizer of the NPP.

Hajia Humu is the kind of person who gets things done through self-participation. She leads by example and sets the tone for team work. Having served the party diligently in diverse ways, especially as a personal assistant to both John Boadu (National Organizer/Ag. General Secretary) and Lawyer Gabby Asare Okyere-Darko, she is imbued with valuable competence and experience to effectively build relationships and coordinate affairs towards efficient grassroots mobilization in the constituencies and regions. As well as managing programs and activities designed to increase the political participation of women and young people within the party and the country at large.

She is comfortable working with all caliber of persons. Some people proclaim her as ‘the people’s mother’ whiles others see her as the leader who follows. Her desire for results is readily apparent to the people she has led and worked with. And she is open to constructive criticism and thought provoking suggestions.

Her experience in political party and community organization at the grassroots level, campaign management and public interest advocacy puts her ahead of her peers. She is a seasoned political organizer with an appreciable experience in planning and running of large-scale political events with both local and international exposure. And her flexibility, cultural sensitivity, management and good interpersonal skills just puts an icing on the cake.

With hindsight, Hajia Humu’s contribution to party people especially those from her deprived region is something worth commendation. She recently donated over 1,400 bags of 5kg Rice, 1,000 pieces of cooking oil and about 34 bales of “Used Clothes” to over 1,000 needy people under the program named “1000 Smiles” in Upper West region under the auspices of her foundation (HAJIA HUMU FOUNDATION). She also donated 100bags of cement to support the construction of the Upper West regional Mosque and one other mosque in Dobile, Wa.

Then she organized a football gala and a walk against the abuse of Tramadol amongst 16 youth camps in the region which brought together the regional minister and his deputy, MMDCE’s, government functionaries and party leaders; and winner, 2nd & 3rd placed teams took home sets of football jerseys and footballs. This was preceded by the donation of Tea, Sugar, Tea cups and Power Banks to over 20 youth camps in the region.

Women groups in the region were not left out as she donated Wax prints, power banks, NPP branded handkerchiefs, and an amount of Gh¢ 2,000 to them; and also lobbied for them to get food supplies contracts at various schools under the NATIONAL FOOD BUFFER STOCK program.

On study scholarships, through her excellent lobbying skills, she secured about 4 foreign scholarships and over 20 local scholarships for qualified party youth and other needy students across the country. And we say what? ” In short, she is development-oriented and always seeking the general well-being of the masses. We are not just lobbying for the position of National Deputy Organizer for our sister not because we want to see her sit at NEC meetings or to be called an executive member, but we are seeking her appointment because we want someone who can represent us to the leadership of the party and not the usual thing of leaders representing the party to us.

The NPP and the Upper West region has gained considerably from the dexterity of this affable young woman and stands to even gain more and in a better fashion by giving her the nod as the deputy national organizer of the party. I believe strongly that her partnership with Mr. Sammi Awuku (CAPO 1) and more preferably Dominic K. Eduah from the southern belt would clench another resounding electoral victory for the party in 2020 and beyond. HAJIA HUMU AWUDU a.k.a Claudia Beyonce Wilson is our surest bet. Let’s take a chance with her by massively supporting her to annex the position and open a new chapter of transformational leadership.

GOD BLESS NPP!!!
GOD BLESS GHANA!!!
