Statements reveal how clever or stupid a person is but often people make certain statements because they think it will reveal their cleverness.

I don’t know on what criteria or educational background African leaders stand on to elect ministers to represent their countries because statements some of these African ministers make really don't show cleverness at all.

Some months ago, when Lassa fever reappeared in Nigeria, governor Okoracha of Imo State, banned residents and warned them against the eating or drinking of Garri.

What has Lassa fever got to do with drinking or eating of Garri governor Okoracha?

This embarrassing statement appeared in the national news. Such statements characterized Africa as a continent that lacks knowledge in the eyes of the developed world because Lassa fever is another hemorrhagic fever.

Some of the Ghanaian papers are available at foreign missions, both at home and abroad. Some online news about Ghana is printed and filed for foreigners that want to visit Ghana to read. Therefore, African leaders must prove themselves great, confident and intelligent.

On September 12, 2018, another embarrassing statement made a headline on ModernGhana news site. “Kofi Annan's Death Will Boost Ghana’s Tourism” - Tourism Minister

According to the minister, Catherine Afeku, “the death of ex-United Nations General Secretary Kofi Annan has a potential of boosting tourism in the country.” Lord, please, have mercy upon us.

The minister further stressed, “ his burial place will serve as a tourism site for the country.”

The tourism minister is not ready to clean the dirty environments, cover up the stagnant stinky malaria-breeding gutters and find a solution for open defaecation; instead, she is happy that Kofi Annan’s death will boost Ghana’s tourism industry. What a lazy woman?

Why must the government of Ghana wait for a dignified person to die to boost the tourism industry?

If the Ghanaian government is not ready to improve the poor drainage systems and stinky environment, they must desist from making such statements to avoid being a joke in the eyes of the developed world.
