Double Track System; Prestea Huni-valley MCE Tours Schools

The Municipal Chief Executive for the Prestea Huni-valley Municipality, Hon. Mozart Kwaku Owuh, has recapulated his commitment towards ensuring the development of education in the Municipality.

Hon. Mozart Kwaku Owuh says, he would adequately commit resources at his disposal, as the MCE for the area, towards addressing the educational needs of the people.

He made the pledge when he met with the heads of the St. Augustine’s SHS, Prestea Technical SHS and Huni-valley SHS on Friday, 14^th September, 2018 as part of a familiarization tour of Senior High Schools in the Municipality.

The tour, according to the MCE, was aimed at acquainting himself with government flagship programme “Free SHS and Double Track Placement System” situation and developmental needs and priorities of Senior High Schools within the Municipality, and to hold discussions with the authorities concerned on how to develop and improve infrastructure and other logistics in the institutions.

Speaking to Modern Ghana, the heads of the schools could not hide their excitement, they said it was the first time a sitting MCE had met them in consultation towards development, and noted that the authorities were so pleased with the initiative. They also gave their assurance that everything is on course with the Free SHS and Double Track Placement System programme and they pledged their support to the government.

The MCE inspected works on the ultra-modern science laboratory at Prestea SHTS which he started some five months ago; He also inspected ongoing projects at various schools and advised the contractors to speed up work

He was joined by the Municipal Director of Education Mrs. Mary Vida Kwofie, Municipal Assistant Director Mr. Francis Boakye, Municipal PRO Mr. Isaac Philip Torxe and the local media.
