The Ghana Institution of Surveyors (GhIS) in collaboration with the Ghana Institution of Engineering and other partners, would hold its premier Construction Industry Lecture, on Monday, September 17.

A statement copied to the Ghana News Agency, and signed by Mr Egbert Kwadzo Hohoabu, President of GhIS, explained that the Lecture would be organised in partnership with the Ghana Institute of Architect, Ghana Institute of Planners, Built Environment Professionals, Ministries, Department and Agencies.

The statement explained that the premier Construction Industry Lecture is an intervention by the GhIS in collaboration with all stakeholders in the Industry to bring the fertile but troubled Industry under the spotlight of policy makers, practitioners, suppliers, leaders and captains of related industries, students and pupils to think of the industry.

'Ghana must at this stage of our development, and after sixty years of independence, pay attention to this strategic Industry, which could easily employ over one million workers; engage over 100,000 business concerns, but, currently, however, locked up in inefficiencies throughout the value chain'.

The statement said there was a nation to build and the industry must be ready for the bold and initiatives the Government of Ghana was undertaking.

The Lecture would be held on the topic: 'Ghana's Construction Industry; yesterday, today and tomorrow: towards greater professionalism', at the Accra International Conference Centre.

According to the statement, the Lecture, which would start at 1700 hours, would host key speakers, including Professor George Ofori of London South Bank University; and Professor Joe Amoako-Tuffour, Secretary of the Economic Management Team.
