Kenya goalkeeper Patrick Matasi has heaped praises on Harambee Stars coach Sebastien Migne for the role he played in their AFCON 2019 qualifier win over Ghana on Saturday.

Matasi was named among five local-based players in Sebastien Migne's starting XI squad for the game and had a pivotal role, especially in the second half when Kenya were reduced to 10-men after Joash Onyango's sending-off.

Keeping at bay a star-studded team that included the likes of Thomas Partey, Christian Atsu, Majid Waris just to name a few was no mean fete and Matasi was left elated by his teammates showing.

He said, 'The win is very important in our bid to qualify for the AFCON. We played as a team and fought for one another.

'The clean sheet is not only for me but for the team. We worked tirelessly throughout our preparations and my trainers helped me a lot to get me in the best physical and mental shape and I thank them for that.'

Matasi is expected to be rested in Harambee Stars' next game which is a friendly against Malawi on Tuesday 11 at the MISC Kasarani.

Migne could call up the services of Bandari FC shot-stopper Farouk Shikhalo or Ian Otieno of Zambian side Red Arrows
