Somanya (E/R), Oct. 15, GNA- Members of the Yilo Krobo Traditional Council have appealed to President John Agyekum Kufour to re-nominate the incumbent Yilo Krobo District Chief Executive, Sub.Lt Christian Tettey (rtd) to retain his position.

The Konor of Yilo Krobo Traditional Area, Nene Narh Dawutey Ologo VI, made the appeal on behalf of the chiefs on Friday at Somanya, when the Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Yaw Barimah and his Deputy, Ms Susuana Mensah, visited the Council to formally introduce themselves to it. He said development in the Yilo Krobo area had slowed down because the District had been without a substantive District Chief Executive (DCE) for almost ten months now.

Nene Ologo said the members of the Traditional Council would be "a little relaxed if government had come out to explain why it is delaying the re-appointment of Sub. Lt. Tettey but that had not been done and the Traditional Council had been kept in the dark." He appealed for the up-grading of the Somanya Police station into a District Office to facilitate the posting of more personnel to strengthen the security in the area.

Mr Barimah announced that a group of investors had proposed The establishment of a factory at Huhunya to produce industrial alcohol, saying the investors had also discussed their intention with the DCEs of Krobo Manya and New Juaben Municipality.

He called on Ghanaians to stop complaining and take advantage of the many opportunities that government had provided and work, explaining that no country could develop until its citizens complement the efforts of government with sacrifice and hard work.

Mr Barimah reminded the people that it was the government of Dr Busia that extended pipe-borne water and electricity to the area as well as improvement of most of the feeder roads in the Krobo area and assured the people that, the tradition would be continued by his administration.
