Mahama’s Hands May Be Stained with Danquah-Adu’s Blood

Mahamas Hands May Be Stained with Danquah-Adus Blood
30.08.2018 LISTEN

I unreservedly agree with Ms. Arit Nsemoh, the Presiding Magistrate in the brutal murder case involving the late Mr. Joseph Boakye Danquah-Adu, the-New Patriotic Party’s Member of Parliament for Akyem-Abuakwa-South, that this apparent case of contract assassination is taking unduly long (See “J B Danquah-Adu ‘Killers’ Still Await Trial” Graphic.com.gh / Ghanaweb.com 8/16/18). It may be recalled that the grandson of the legendary and immortalized Doyen of Gold Coast and Modern Ghanaian Politics was stabbed to death in his own bedroom on February 9, 2016, in the Shiashie, East Legon, suburb of Accra. A couple, or so, days later two young men, namely Messrs. Daniel Asiedu and Vincent Bosso, were picked up by police investigators. The pair was alleged to have promptly confessed to having been hired to rub out the then-opposition parliamentarian by some higher ups in the then John Dramani Mahama-led government of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Shortly thereafter, the narratives of these self-confessed assassination suspects began to change. But this was after the extant Inspector-General of the Ghana Police Service (IGP), Mr. John Kudalor, abruptly and shockingly took the Lead / Primary Investigator, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, a well-known forensic scientist and the then Greater-Accra Regional Commander of the Ghana Police Service, off the case. Dr. Dampare would be quickly transferred to Winneba, the Central Region, to head the Police Training Depot/Academy there. By all accounts, Dr. Dampare’s transfer from his Greater-Accra Regional Commander’s post to that of the Director of the Winneba Police Training Academy was a demotion. And so one hopes that when the trial of Mr. Danquah-Adu’s killers officially resumes, for at least the second time on September 9, among the first and most salient questions that sedulous observers would want to have answered includes why the most senior expert forensic scientist and investigator originally assigned to the case was so abruptly bumped by IGP Kudalor, other than the fact of then-President Mahama’s being hell-bent on muddying up the bloody trail leading up to the possibility of the self-confessed assassins’ mastermind(s) being comfortably and securely holed up in the erstwhile Flagstaff House or in the very suite of the Mahama Presidency.

We will also need to revisit some of the details of the investigations that were evidently freely and generously fed the media by police investigators, such as how much these two hit men were paid and precisely how their blood monies were used. As I vividly recall, the media also informed the general public, via reliable sources from police investigators, that three I-phones had been snatched and taken away from the bedroom of the dying MP or victim of contract execution by the prime suspect, Mr. Asiedu, and that at least one of the three I-phones had in its memory storage, the known phone number of a Flagstaff House operative who was alleged to have a pet aversion for the brutally slain man and had, in fact, threatened the life of Mr. Danquah-Adu not long before the latter fell victim at the hands of Messrs. Asiedu and Bosso.

I have also in several of my columns on this subject, suggested the necessary possibility of inviting operatives of the US’s Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and UK’s Scotland Yard to help us thoroughly get to the bottom of exactly what happened in the Danquah-Adu Case, as then-President John Agyekum-Kufuor did in the wake of the rampant killings of some largely middle-aged women in the Achimota area of Accra, a crime spree that Mr. Kufuor had inherited from the previous Rawlings-led regime of the National Democratic Congress.
