Suhum, Oct. 8, GNA- Assembly members of the Suhum/Kraboa/Coaltar District Assembly have been asked to step up the sensitisation of people in their electoral areas to register with the District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme(MHIS) under the second phase of registration exercise beginning from October 15.
The District Manager of the Scheme, Mr. Tulasi Kafui, who made the call when briefing the assembly members at Suhum on Wednesday, announced that 12,640 members of the scheme who had been registered under the first phase had been enjoying the benefit since May, this year.
He described the scheme as an important policy that would help reduce poverty as it would improve the health of the people.
Addressing the Scheme Agents at a one-day workshop later, Mr Kafui asked them to respond regularly to a series of periodic workshops designed to help them to evaluate and strengthen their community mobilization, human relations and methodology of registration of members to the scheme. He asked them to ensure that the Community Health Insurance Committees in their areas performed as expected in close collaboration with chiefs, assembly members and Unit Committees. Mr. Kafui asked the agents to educate scheme members to behave well when they visit the health facilities and to report any health personnel who might abuse them during their visit.
