The Gyaasehene of Asokore Mampong in the Ashanti region, Nana Amoah Yeboah II, has added his voice to the numerous calls on government to extend the Free Senior High School (SHS) programme to the private schools senior high schools.

He stressed the inclusion of private senior high schools in the implementation of the free SHS could help reduce congestion in the schools.

Nana Amoah Yeboah II was speaking during the first speech and prize giving day of Osmoses Trinity Academy at Asokore Mampong.

He further suggested the expansion of infrastructure at the various schools to cater for the huge number of students.

“The call to extend the policy to cover the private schools is something that should be considered because there are some in there who need the kind of support government is providing now, but because it is private, now they are cut off.”

“For now, the policy is going to be rolled out without the private schools, but I think going forward, some considerations should be given. There could be some criteria to identify students within the private schools who should be supported under the free SHS policy,” Nana Amoah Yeboah II added.

Proprietor of Osmoses Trinity Academy, Mr. Osei Boateng a speech underscored the need for education in this contemporary era.

He said his school trying to alleviate poverty through the provision of quality education. Pupils who excelled academically were honoured whilst others who have successfully completed pre-school were officially graduated.
