"PERD" Program Thrives, As Deputy Local Government Minister Assesses Performance Of MMDAs In Central Region.

Hon Collins Ntim With The DCE For Denkyira Together With Some Chiefs Of The Area

The deputy minister for local government and rural development in charge of rural economic development and Agric Hon Collins Ntim has embarked and completed an assessment tour of all Mmda' assemblies in the central region.

The week long working tour saw the deputy minister visiting all 20 districts in the central region.

This is part of the ministry' performance assessment of all MMDA' nationwide.

Hon Collins Ntim who is also the Member of Parliament for Offinso North began his working tour from the upper Denkyira east district where he met all the chief executive and all heads of the decentralized department of the assembly

He assessed them in the area of IGF generation, holding of Statutory meetings,education,health,workings of all sub structures of the assembly,audit,and agric policies.

The nature of the meeting is such that,all keys heads of the assembly will give various reports with respect to their various work of schedule in the full glare of all staffs present.

In the upper Denkyira east district, reports from agric,health,education and coordinating directors where given.

In the area of agric under the planting for export and rural development program(PERD) the district topped the region with over 1.5million seedlings of oil palm seedlings been raised by the assembly and ready to be distributed to over 3445 registered farmers within the district, and with an extra 542,000 seedlings of cocoa already distributed to 2076 registered farmers.

With over 1million seedlings of coconut been raised dubbed operation 1million coconut seedlings, the Gomoa west district came second highest in terms of number of seedlings been raised in the region under the "PERD".

Followed by Ajumako with(600,000 Cocoa) Twifo praso(440,000 cocoa),Assin Foso(278,841 Cocoa),Assin south(425,481 Cocoa),Mfantsiman(100,000 coconut) Gomoa central(5000 Coconut), and Ekumfi raising(4300 mango) seedlings.

A durbar of the chiefs and people of the Denkyira Traditional council was held in honour of the deputy ministers, where he took time to reintegrate government flagship program been rolled out nationwide.

Hon Collins Ntim at the durbar said, the government of his Excellency the president is so much committed and so much poised to develop every facet of the Ghanaian economy hence the rolling out of all these government interventions and program which eventually finds expression at the district level.

He said,he was in the region to ascertain first hand information and monitor the progress all government policies in the various assemblies making sure that each assembly helps to prop up the rural economy through especially agriculture.

Hon Collins Ntim continued that, the administration of the president of the republic will not be work as usual by government set to build our people up especially our farmers through the various agric program rolled out ie planting for food and jobs,planting for export and rural development and modernization of agriculture in Ghana(MAG) programs.

The omanhene of New Obuasi and acting president of the Denkyira Traditional council Nana Agyei Nkyereyeh II, thanked the deputy minister for his reverence for tradition and urged the Ministry to be doing this monitoring on a regular bases since it will keep the MMDCE' on their toes and make them responsible.

The hon Collins ntim then proceeded to the Twifo praso,Twifo hemang,Komenda Edina Aguafo,Ajumako,Breman Asikuma Odoben brakwa,Assin foso,Assin South,Cape coast,Abura Asiabu kwamankese,Mfantsiman,Ekumfi,Apam and Gomoa Central districts.

In the Abura Asiabu kwamankese district,the omanhene for the asebu traditional area Dr Nana Okatakyie Amanfi II graced the meeting as the chairman and expressed his outmost disappointment in the agric director, for his poor performance on agric policies after he delivered his report since other districts in the region are performing creditably well.

The Chief promised to spearhead all agric programs vigorously in the district by adopting the district, through the collaborative effort of his Firm, Bureau of international development, which focuses on rural development.

He applauded the hon Collins Ntim and the minister for local government hon Hajiah Alima Mahama, for such initiative of monitoring and performance assessment because its even given him the opportunity to know all the heads of departments of the assembly.

He promised to summon all the heads of departments and the chief executive to the traditional council on a monthly bases,so as to monitor and know the progress of their work.

In the Area of education and health in the region when been assessed by the hon deputy minister, the upper Denkyira east district came first with an 89% during their last 2017 BECE exams, with ekumfi also been first in the area of health with Zero maternal, Neonatal and stillbirth mortality rates in the last years.

Districts that were lagging in their various areas been assessed promised the hon Collins Ntim to be very proficient in the two months time line given by the deputy minister.

With Chief executives pledging and promising to raise numerous and millions of seedlings of the various identified cash crops within their various districts.

The hon Collins Ntim was generally impressed with the work of the central administration of all the districts in the region, with almost all of them adhering to all laid down statutory regulations governing local governance.

He encouraged all the heads of the education departments and the various Chief executive to be collaborative in the area of teenage pregnancy since its very prevalence in the region.
