Collins Obeng Manu, Proprietor of CeCOM Royals School, one of the leading private schools in Ashaiman, has commended the efforts parents are putting into the education of their wards, but encouraged them to do more.

By investing more in their children's education, Mr Manu explained that parents should regularly visit their wards' schools to interact with the teachers on the performance and attitude of their children.

Additionally, he said, parents should spend quality time with their children at home to guide them to do their homework and monitor their activities.

The result of parents leaving their children to have their will at home is a disregard for basic norms and poor academic performances, which would, eventually, affect the development of the state, he added.

Speaking at the 5th Graduation Ceremony of the school, Collins Obeng Manu continued: “The teachers can do all their best to nurture our children, but if we, the 'owners' of the children, shirk from our responsibilities with excuses, we should be ready to bear the adverse consequences in future.

“Sadly, our country will not be spared the results of our negligence.”

He went on to commend parents who were prompt in paying their children's school fees to keep it up, whilst he encouraged the defaulters do well to meet their children's educational needs, saying, the school cannot run without fees.

“We admit you are doing your best for your children, however, you need to do more,” he encouraged the parents.

Twenty-two pupils graduated from Kindergarten Two to Basic One, whilst 26 pupils graduated from Basic Six to Junior High School (JHS) One for the 2018/2019 Academic Year, which opens in September.

Mr Manu told his guests the successes the school chalked in the 2017/2018 Academic Year, and they included the cadet's maiden participation at the Black Star Square on Republic Day, after its sterling show on March 6 at the Ashaiman Divisional Police Command Park.

Furthermore, the school placed second in an inter-schools Information, Communication Technology (ICT) Quiz in the Ashaiman District.

“Co-curricular activities are getting our children more active, and we will encourage you to encourage your children to participate fully in them,” Mr Manu ended.
