A reading junkie, I am addicted to the news on ModernGhana. One of the articles which caught my attention today, reads “Ghanaians Are Suffering; Let’s Feel The Promises - Shatta Wale Tells Akufo-Addo.”

In detail, the Ghanaian musician, Charles Nii Amarh Mensah Jnr, known as Shatta Wale, has made a passionate plea to the Ghanaian leader, Nana Akufo Addo to follow his promises and transform Ghana, since Ghanaians are suffering.

Taking into consideration how greedy and selfish some musicians are, I really admired the courage of this young man coming forward to make such a humble request.

Today's music business is selfish and greedy, therefore, greed prevents musicians to speak the truth. They will not speak the truth about Aids and Ebola, or anything politically to affect them in any way.

Film actors and actresses wouldn’t comment on the US government’s global depopulation programs and the test of biological weapons to avoid the collapse of the film industry and protect their careers, the same greedy musicians protect their money, fame, and career.

I was, therefore, bemused to see this young man, pleading on behalf of Ghanaians to make life comfortable for them without thinking of his career first.

On October 26, 1965, the Beetles John Lennon received his honour, ‘Order of the British Empire (MBE) an act of recognition demonstrating the immense pride the nation took in the band's incredible worldwide success. Later, John Lennon said:

“Your Majesty,
I am returning my MBE as a protest against Britain's involvement in the Nigeria-Biafra thing, against our support of America in Vietnam and against 'Cold Turkey' slipping down the charts.

With love. John Lennon of Bag.”
John Lennon who wasn’t happy about the Biafran war, the most brutal civil war in Nigeria, in which thousands of people perished, had to return his MBE back to the queen. How many musicians, film actors, and actresses can do that today?

Thousands of Ghanaians are dying yearly of Aids, and another biological weapon, Ebola, has killed thousands of Africans, yet no Ghanaian musician is brave to show concern. I find it more disturbing when some making bad comments against the musician.

"Shatta, I don’t know you, since we have never met before, but for this particular request or plea on behalf of Ghanaians, I will congratulate you for that."

I wish the greedy Ghanaian musicians, film actors and actresses, who only care about money, career, and fame will learn something significant from what you did.
