His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo -Addo, has given hints of the government's determination to relieve Ghana from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) next year.

Speaking at a Thanksgiving Service at the Roman Catholic Minor Basilica Cathedral as part of his visit to the Ashanti Region, the President told the congregation that he was optimistic that the country's economy would be secure and stable to take off, because of the government's pragmatic measures put in place to ensure that Ghana has economic freedom by next year.

Archbishop Gabriel Justice Yaw Anokye, Catholic Bishop of Kumasi Archdiocese, charged Nana Addo Darkwah Akufo-Addo not to adhere to cheap projects and policies only to score political points, but roll-out projects and policies that would be beneficial to the people over the next 50 years.

He expressed the need for the government to focus on what could move the nation forward.

The Catholic Bishop observed that Ghana could be a secure and stable country when it learns to accommodate opposing views, devoid of tribalism and religious differences.

He entreated politicians not to be concerned about winning elections, but help the helpless, feed those who are hungry, and create job opportunities for the unemployed graduates.

Dr. Louis Tuffuor, Vicar General of the Kumasi Catholic Archdiocese, reminded the President to always identify himself with King David, believing that the battle is the Lord, and focus on God for guidance and wisdom, and practice the values of Christ.
