Plans are said to be afoot to hook some twenty communities to the national grid in the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality before the end of 2018.

The communities after they are connected to electricity are expected to see high economic activities in those areas.

This was made known by the Member of Parliament for Prestea Huni-Valley Constituency, Lawyer Mrs. Barbara Oteng Gyasi in an interview on the Bogoso based Best Fm, Wednesday August 8, 2018.

Mrs. Oteng Gyasi was speaking on a tour in her constituency, which took her to nine communities to listen to concerns of the residents that have to be addressed.

Communities such as Nkran Dadieso, Bayeragya, Krofofrom, Dedebreso and Tarkwa Bremeng. The rest are Kokoase, Agyeikrom, Ayensukrom and Entowada were some of the communities that had the opportunity to express their concerns to the member of parliament.

The tour, she said was to enable a smooth relationship with her and the constituents, whiles she listened to issues bothering them that could be addressed for them to have their comfort.

Mrs. Barbara Oteng Gyasi in the interview stated that, the Ministry of Energy has selected some twenty communities in her constituency, Prestea Huni- Valley where they would be connected to the national grid.

“I made a list of all the communities that do not have light to the Ministry of Energy and Electricity Company of Ghana where twenty of them have been selected to be connected to electricity under the rural electrification project this year”. She said.

The legislature was very optimistic that, jobs would be created and economic activities will boom when there is power.

She stated that, “when electricity is available, people can engage in so many businesses. Like, hairdressing, sell iced water or operate a cold store so we are seriously hoping all will be fixed before the end of 2018”.

Bukarikrom, Peter Nkwanta, Peterkrom, K. Gyasi, Nyame Bekyere, Kofikrom, Ebu-Kofi and Heaven Nkwanta are few communities among the twenty selected which would be hooked to electricity this year.
