Homowo Festival: Nii Lante Advocates For Peace In Ga Mashie

Mr Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Odododiodoo, has called on the chiefs and people of the Ga State to foster the spirit of oneness among themselves at all times.

He also urged the chiefs to preach peace and that that was the only means to make any meaningful impact on the lives of the people and avoid wasting time on unproductive issues.

Nii Lante made the call at Lante Djanwe when he addressed a durbar of chiefs and people at the Ussher Fort in Accra during the Ga Mashie Homowo Festival on Saturday.

He tasked the Chief of Lante Djanwe, Nii Lante Otanka II, to make efforts to bring all feuding factions within the Ga State together to advance the peace of the area before the next year's festival.

The MP expressed concern about the Sempe School project, which had been abandoned by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Government, adding that; 'I will put them on their toes to ensure that every project started by the Mahama Administration in the Constituency is completed.'

Nii Lante said the deplorable condition of the Salaga Market was worrying, making it difficult for the traders, especially the women to ply their businesses in the market, and called on the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) to complete the project as early as possible.

He said the situation in which development of the area were unattended to, left much to be desired and that with effective interaction among the chiefs, a lot could be achieved.

'I will lead a crusade in Parliament to ensure that the NPP Government comes to the aid of the people of Odododiodoo to enhance the economic activities of the residents,' he said.

Nii Lante Otanka in an interview with the Ghana News Agency gave the assurance that he would create awareness among the people, especially the youth on the need to concentrate on important things that would move the Ga State forward.

He noted that with communal spirit and the elimination of acrimony, bitterness and squabbles among the chiefs, it would pave way for the development of the area.

Nii Otanka appealed to the chiefs and people of Ga Mashie to desist from acts that would disturb the peace of Accra and urged them to continue to dialogue among themselves for lasting co-existence.
