Farmers Receive Fish Ponds From Skyfox

Skyfox Limited, investors in agriculture, has completed and handed over fish ponds to the first batch of over 20 farmers group at Adauso in the Kwahu Afram Plains South District of the Eastern Region.

The project is being organized in collaboration with the Afram Plains Development Organization, a non- governmental organization with support from the USAID and was to help create employment for the youth in the area.

At a short ceremony to hand over the fish ponds to the farmers, Mr Patrick Apoya, the Chief Executive Officer of Skyfox Limited, said it was the company's priority to create economic opportunities in deprived areas to help better the living standards of the people in those areas .

He explained that for the farmers to qualify to acquire the fish ponds, the farmers have to buy shares ranging from GH¢ 100.00 to GH¢ 25, 000.00 with Skyfox in order to own a fish pond.

Mr Apoya said some group of framers can buy as much shares as they wanted so as to increase their profit.

Mr Apoya hinted that the company had plans of enrolling more farmers onto the project by extending it to individuals and households to ensure more people benefitted.

He urged the farmers to take proper care of the ponds by frequently visiting the project site.

Mr Apoya encouraged other farmers who had not registered to do so to benefit from the second batch of fish ponds.

In an interview with some representatives of the group of fish farmers, Madam Victoria Asenyo of Awurade Adom Farms commended Skyfox for helping to create jobs for the jobless.

She was hopeful it would go a long way to make the farmers, especially the women to be more independent.

Mr Wilson Fevlo of Miwoenenyo Group also said although the project was new to them, he was sure it would yield good results.

He said his group was going to work hard to enable them earn enough income to take care of their families.
