Massive Dismissals Hit Metro Mass

Massive Dismissals Hit Metro Mass
29.07.2018 LISTEN

The Acting Managing Director (MD) of Metro Mass Transit (Mr. Adu Boahen) and his Deputy (Mr. Sampa) have fired 20 inspectors and 160 conductors and drivers of Metro Mass Transit Ltd. across Ghana.

Sources within management in Accra indicates that the Acting MD of Metro Mass Transit and his Deputy laid off the 180 workers with the excuse that they support the return of Mr. Bennet Aboagye, the MD who has been asked to proceed on leave to allow for investigations to be conducted into the alleged purchasing of three hundred (300) buses for the company.

Insider information indicates that the Acting MD (Mr. Adu Boahen), his Deputy (Mr. Sampa), and an illegal group called "mystery guest” (hereinafter called the deadly trio) are together causing financial loss to the Company. And they have the full support of a certain Lawal who is being investigated for illegally planting recording devices in the office of Mr. Bennet Aboagye (the MD).

The leaders of the dismissed 180 have copies of a 10-year contract signed between Texmax Company and Metro Mass Transit which guarantees the payment of 12.5% “chop chop” cash into a secret account.

As if the above was not enough, the Acting MD and his Deputy have agreed to reinstate the former accountant of Metro Mass Kumasi Depot who is under investigation for embezzling GHS 350,000 belonging to MMT.

The former accountant’s reinstatement is meant to block any further investigations into financial malfeasance at Metro Mass Transit.

Furthermore, the Acting MD and his Deputy have teamed up with opposition NDC sympathizers at Metro Mass Transit with the sole purpose of frustrating the hard working perceived NPP employees. They have indicted pro-NPP employees on account of the findings of a bogus investigation into an incident that occurred at Metro Mass Transit in 2016 just before the general election which saw His Excellency Nana Akuffo Addo emerge as the winner.

It is feared that if serious action is not taken immediately, the Acting MD (Mr. Adu Boahen) and his Deputy(Mr. Sampa) will together collapse Metro Mass Transit.

MMT had no problems paying the salaries of employees when Mr. Bennet Aboagye was in charge.

As at the time of writing, some MMT employees are still owed their June 2018 salaries.

Union workers of MMT are therefore pleading with the government to intervene as a matter of urgency.

Please bring back Mr. Bennet Aboagye and thereby save the Company from folding up due to the incompetence and evil machinations of the deadly trio.
