Accra, Sept. 29, GNA - A security officer with a private security company on an apparent revenge mission on Thursday shot and critically wounded her former girlfriend and her pal at Osu triggering mob action against him.

Bernard Nartey was said to have taken care of his former lover, Ms Victoria Obeng while she was in school, but she refused to marry him when she completed, apparently fuelling his action.

He shot Victoria above her eyebrow at Osu Blogodo Gardens, a popular spot near the Castle Traffic Light, and she is in critical condition at the Police Hospital in Accra, Police told the Ghana News Agency (GNA).

Nartey did not spare Victoria's friend, Ms Hilda Addy, who also sustained wounds on her hand and was also receiving treatment at the Police Hospital, Police said.

The mob subjected Bernard Nartey to severe beatings soon after he opened fire on Victoria and her friend and he has been sent to the Police Hospital.

In an interview with GNA, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mr James Annor said at about 1100 hours on Thursday, Mr Nortey Noi, an assembly member for Osu Alata, reported to the Police that a mob had assaulted an unknown man at the Osu Blogodo Gardens. ASP Annor said the Police moved swiftly to the scene and found Nartey lying in a pool of blood. One locally manufactured pistol loaded with ammunition and a jack knife were lying beside him. ASP Annor said the Police were conducting further investigation into matter.

Naa Odaakor, an eyewitness, told GNA that she heard two gunshots and when she got to the scene, he found Nartey lying in the pool of blood.
