Bantama NPP constituency elects new executive

Kumasi, Sept 28, GNA - Mr Osei Asibey-Antwi, Ashanti Regional first vice chairman of the New Patriotic Party, has appealed to constituency executives of the party to be well equipped with the programmes and achievements of the party over the years to enable them to counter false propaganda being peddled by the opposition. He said party executives and members at the local levels had a big responsibility to explain the policies, programmes and achievements of the government to the people to enable them appreciate efforts of the government.

Mr Asibey-Antwi made the appeal at the Bantama constituency delegate's conference of the party to elect new executive for the constituency at Abrepo in Kumasi on Tuesday.

Mr Hendricks Kokofu, an Agro-Forestry Consultant, was elected the constituency chairman. He polled 37 votes to beat Mr Daniel Yaw Gyamfi, the incumbent chairman, who had 32 votes.

Mr Henry Osei Kwabena polled 40 votes to retain his position as the constituency secretary while Nana Ama Ampoma had 36 votes to beat the incumbent Madam Hagar Osei who had 32 votes to become women's organiser. Mr Kingsley Addo polled 39 votes to retain his position as the organizer and Mr Ghanem Kofi Nti had 32 votes to retain his position as the youth organizer.

Mr E.C Boakye, Mr Aboagye Da Costa, Mr Padmore Antwi and Mr Michael Amankwaa were elected unopposed as the first and second vice chairman as well as treasurer and assistant secretary respectively. Mr Sam Cudjoe, the Regional Secretary of the party, appealed to the members to put the past behind them and unite as one family to ensure victory for the party in 2008.

Mr Kokofu thanked the delegates for the confidence shown in the new executive and pledged to unite all members to ensure victory in the 2008 elections. 28 Sept 05
