Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Tarkwa-Nsuaem, Gilbert Ken Asmah, has handed over fifty (50) desk top computers to seven(7) Schools within the catchment areas of Anglogold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine.

According to him, the geographical location of a child should not limit them from having quality education, specifically Information Communication Technology, ICT.

The MCE noted that in this age of technological advancement, teaching and learning have become more effective and understandable with the use of computers.

In this regard, Mr Gilbert Asmah and the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, George Mireku Duker, stressed that ICT enhances the conducting of academic research both at school and outside the classroom thereby improving upon the academic performance of pupils and students.

“The Nana Akufo-Addo led NPP government is highly committed to the teaching and learning of Information Communication Technology, thus the inclusion of the digitise Ghana as one of the modules in the Nation Builders Corps initiative aimed at addressing the unemployment canker amongst the youth in Ghana,” Mr Asmah said.

He commended Anglogold Ashanti Iduapriem through its community Trust Fund for the gesture, which is part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives aimed atenhancing the teaching and learning of ICT in schools.

He noted that Anglogold Ashanti Iduapriem Community Trust Fund (AAICTF) had taken cognisance of lack of computers in most of the schools in the community and carefully selected the beneficiary schools with the hope of addressing the issue.

He further pledged his unflinching support and that of the MP for Tarkwa-Nsuaem, George Mireku Duker to Anglogold Ashanti in all endeavours to foster more developmental projects and initiative.

The Managing Director of Anglogold Ashanti Mr. Jasper Mousadaizwa, who presented the computers to the MCE noted that it was the hope of AAICTF that it would provide ICT equipment to all the deprived schools within which they operate and this he believes will go a long way to help the teaching and learning of Information and Communication Technology.

HRM of the Municipal Education Directorate, Mr Charles Nuamah, who represented Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Alex K. Duah, expressed his immense gratitude to AAICTF gesture.
