Nurses at the Akrodie Health Centre in the in Asunafo North Municipality of the Brong Ahafo region are forced to use torch lights to deliver pregnant women of their babies.

The situation has arisen due the absence of a standby power generating plant to serve the facility whenever power supply is interrupted.

Head of the Maternity Ward, Madam Victoria Pormaa Keremaa, told OTEC FM's Atiewin Mohammed the situation is affecting quality health care delivery at the facility.

"Our main problem here is our lighting system, in case there is light off you have to use your phone light for delivery, which is very bad and unacceptable in the profession, we don't do delivery in darkness, in case there is a problem with the client you not know, there should be adequate lighting before you attend to a patient, its headache I'm going through as a midwife" She bemoaned

She therefore appeal to authorities to support the facility with a standby power generating plant.

Meanwhile Mr. Afrifa Zidane, Timber Contractor, has donated 50 plastic and office chairs worth Two thousand Ghana Cedis (GHS 2,000) to the centre.

He also appeal to cooperate bodies and individuals to help the health center with the necessary facilities for quality health care delivery.
