20-Year-Old Man Granted Bail Following Alleged Robbery Incident

Kumasi, June 26, GNA- A Kumasi Circuit Court presided over by Ms. Patricia Amponsah, has granted a 20 year old bail in the sum of GH¢2,000.00 after he allegedly robbed a nurse.

Felix Addai Mensah, unemployed, pleaded not guilty to robbery.

He will go back to the court on July 19, 2018.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Felix Akowuah, presenting the facts to the Court said the complainant, Geradine Sarpong-Osei, a nurse and a resident of Atasomanso, a suburb of Kumasi while the accused also resides at Atonsu- Dompoase.

ASP Akowuah said on June 05 this year, at about 21:30 hours Mrs Sarpong-Osei together with her husband went to a bar around Amakom to have fun.

On reaching the bar, the complainant had a call and decided to receive it in their car while the husband entered the bar.

The accused on seeing the complainant hid behind the car and rushed on her and snatched the phone as soon she came out of the car and bolted.

Complainant later realized that Mensah had managed to transfer monies from her MTN mobile money wallet on her phone, she then alerted the MTN of the robbery and the line was blocked.

Prosecution said Mensah then went to go the offices of MTN to reactivate the line and this was when he run out of luck and he was arrested and subsequently handed over to the police.

He told the police in his caution that he sold the phone for GH ¢ 100.00 but could not lead the police to the buyer.
