NSMQ 2018: Accra Academy Through To The Quarter Finals Stage

Accra Academy secured a quarter final slot in the 2018 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) competition after beating stern competition from St. Hubert Minor Seminary and Awudome Senior High School.

At the end of the contest, Accra Academy managed to secure 37 points as against St Hubert minor seminary’s 27 points and Awudome SHS’s 17 points in their one-eight contest.

Speaking in an interview with Citi News, Coordinating Tutor of Accra Academy, Mr. Ayim Sarpong, expressed his satisfaction with his team’s performance.

According to him, his students are preparing adequately to compete with any school in subsequent contests.

He further maintained that the 'Bleoo boys' can go all the way to win the ultimate prize.

Accra Academy is one of the few seeded schools to have still not won the competition since its inception.

Prempeh College wins with huge margin
The second contest of the day saw defending champions Prempeh College also emerge victorious with an impressive contest against St. Francis Xavier and Saviour SHS.

The boys from Kumasi who are the defending champions won the contest with a difference of 33 points with St. Francis Xavier placing second.

At the end of the contest, Prempeh College had 62 points, as against St. Francis Xavier's 29 points with Saviour SHS managing 18 points.

Many have tipped Prempeh college to defend the title after today’s rather impressive performance. Followig today’s outcome, Prempeh College will come against Accra Academy and Islamic SHS in the quarter finals.
