A fetish priest who collected a total of GH¢30,00.00 from a woman to double it for her spiritually but failed has been sentenced to a GH¢9,800 fine or serve 10 years in prison in default by an Aflao Circuit Court.

Azumah Agbeko, 35, pleaded not guilty to fraud, claiming the rituals failed because the dwarfs from whom he has to purchase dwarf's hairs for the rituals have travelled to the spirit realm.

Prosecuting, Detective Pollice Inspector Michael Akemo told the court presided over by Mr. Ali Baba Abature that the complainant a businesswoman lived at Viepe while the accused lived at Lentey, both in Aflao.

He said sometime in 2016, the accused confided in the complainant's husband that he multiplies currencies spiritually and the woman expressed interest in it.

Mr. Akumo said the complainant in the company of the husband visited the accused at his shrine where he collected GH¢350 as consultation fee and an additional GH¢2,500.00 to buy materials for the rituals.

He said the accused collected a total of GH¢30,000 over time for materials including perfumes, vulture eggs and hairs of the dwarf for the act but later began giving excuses.

Mr. Akumo said the accused told complainant her soul was not strong to undergo the rituals, promising to vary the rituals to suit her soul only to later say the dwarfs have travelled.

The fetish priest asked complainant to exercise restraint till the spirit beings return but the complainant suspecting foul play demanded the return of her money but to no avail

The prosecution said the complainant used another person who feigned interest in the rituals and when Agbeko appeared at that person's residence for an agreed amount he was arrested.

He said Agbeko insisted collecting only GH¢10,150 from complainant and gave another twist that he could not perform the rituals because the only last perfume he bought for it got broken.
