Prestea, Sept 16, GNA - A security man, Alhassan Mesuma, sustained cutlass wounds and was clubbed when a group of illegal gold miners (Gallamsey) besieged Bogoso Gold Limited (BGL) mining pit in a bid to mine at dawn yesterday. His right wrist was almost severed from the arm.

Mesuma told newsmen that at about 0300 hours, four illegal miners attempted to enter BGL mining pit but with the help of other security men they prevented them from entering the pit. Some hours later the illegal miners, numbering about 30 and armed with cutlasses and clubs, returned and in efforts to resist them he got injured.
