The second edition of the Ghana Shippers Awards has received a tremendous participation of key stakeholders, companies and respected individuals within the shipping industry.

This year, 48 companies submitted nomination for the awards scheduled to come off on Friday June 22, 2018 in Accra.

This was in a statement signed by Latif Abubakar, the organiser for the Awards and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra.

The event will bring together stakeholders within the shipping and maritime industry and agencies under the Ministry of Transport mandated to effectively and efficiently manage Ghana's commercial shipping and to protect and promote the interest of shippers in relation to international trade and transport logistics.

The statement said for this year's edition the categories had been expanded to cover more of the shippers to allow for balance between the shippers and service providers.

The awards cut across road transportations, ocean carriers, air transportation, freight forwarding, shipping agents, express services, courier agencies, government agencies, insurance, financial institutions and more.

Some of the organisations that have submitted their nominations so far include DHL Ghana Limited, Kingdom Exim Ghana Limited, Star Assurance, Cargill Ghana Limited, Grimaldi Ghana Limited, Swissport Ghana Ltd, and Meridian Port Services Limited.

It said the Ghana Shippers Awards would continue to recognise achievements in the field, promote the interests of the industry - nationally and internationally as well as provide an unparalleled opportunity for industry players to network.
