Accra, Sept 15, GNA - The Golden Lion's Club on Thursday donated seven tape recorders and 4 boxes of cassette worth about two million cedis to the Ghana Society for the Blind. The donation was to facilitate the learning process for twelve students of the society who have gained admission to University of Ghana, Legon, this year.

Mrs Joyce Akusika Adugu, the President of the Club, said the club's aim was to help the visually impaired, physically challenged and the needy to be able to identify their goals and ways of achieving them. She said the club, which has been in existence for 12 years, "will continue to solicit for more funds for the society.''

Miss Jean Wright, Instructor at the Computer Learning Centre who received the items, expressed her gratitude and appealed to the government and the public to help the society with more of such donations.

Mr James Sambiam, Executive Director of the Society for the Blind, said the society faced many challenges and that "financing the twelve students at the university is a major problem for us now." 15 Sept 05
