Tanoso (B/A) Sept. 15, GNA - Mr. John Asamani, Environmental Health Officer in-charge of Tanoso Sub-District in Techiman Municipality has advised registered members of the Mutual Health Insurance Scheme to avoid contracting communicable diseases. He noted that most illnesses that could deflate the resources of the scheme could be avoided if people gave greater attention to the preventive rather than curative measures. Mr. Asamani, who was speaking in an interview with Ghana News Agency at Tanoso called on district and municipal assemblies and managements of the scheme to draw the attention of registered persons to preventive health care.

He cited malaria, cholera and typhoid fever as among diseases that the scheme would focus on their prevention and urged the authorities to respond to proposals of Environmental Health Officers on measures to help prevent the outbreak of communicable diseases. "When logistics are provided, environmental health personnel would work harder than before," Mr. Asamani added.
