The Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of Tema says he is determined to the fight to empower the youth and the vulnerable to ensure that they develop well to contribute their quota to the development of the nation.

Mr. Felix Mensah Nii Annan-La says, "My administration and that of the President are committed to empowering the youth and the vulnerable and eradicating domestic violence against women, a policy which is captured in the Tema Restoration Agenda."

He said this on Friday on the sideline the Eid Ul-Fitr prayers which marked the end of fasting by Muslims within the Tema metropolis at the Tema Sports Stadium, Community One.

He advised the youth against the use of tramodol which had a toll on the development of the child, adding that "if the youth who are the future leaders resort to the use of tramadol, it will bring destruction to the country."

He asked the operators of the numerous gaming centers in the metropolis to desist from admitting the under-age since their activities involved gambling and would destroy them.

Observing the devastating effects of gambling on the youth, he said "because they do gambling that allows children to get money at all cost to gamble, it could lead to robbery and other vices."

He hinted that the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) would soon move in to close down facilities which were in clear violation of the law and restore sanity to the gaming business.

He observed that government was committed to the policy of zongo development and would strive to ensure that it becomes a reality to bring prosperity to the people in such communities.

The Tema Metropolitan Chief Imam, Alhaji Adams Abubakah, asked the youth to celebrate in moderation and not engage in activities that would bring trouble and mar the beauty of the celebration.

He observed that society would develop when they had good leaders and therefore asked Muslims to be law abiding and allow those in authority over them to help shape their future and develop the nation.

He praised the government for its commitment to improving the lives of the zongo dwellers by saying that, "No President has established a zongo ministry to oversee the affairs of people in such communities which is a sign to show how far government is prepared to change the lives of zongo people."

He prayed for the president, Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo, and his government, asking for God's guidance and leadership so they could lead Ghana to prosperity and development.
