General Mosquito Predicts Constitutional Crisis For The Country

General Secretary for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia has predicted a constitutional crisis ahead of the country if the tension between the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) and her deputies are not resolved immediately.

According to the outspoken secretary, the tension at the EC is obstructing the undertaken of crucial decisions and actions that should have been taken after the 2016 general elections to ensure we have a successful elections in 2010.

Madam Charlotte Osei and some of her deputies have had misunderstandings between them over how matters are handled at the institution. With both sides basically accusing the other of incompetence and financial impropriety.

Currently a petition to be sent to the President or the dismissal of the commissioners is being considered by a committee setup by the chief Justice in accordance with the constitution of the country.

Addressing followers of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Aflao in the Ketu South District after their Unity Walk, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia emphasized that the unsettled misunderstanding between the EC boss and her subordinates must be a worry and of great concern to Ghanaians as we approach the 2020 election.

“Time and tide waits for no man. We are moving gradually to the next election. Al the preparatory work that ought to have started two years ago, nothing is happening”, he said.

General mosquito also disclosed that he fears the electoral commission might not be ready when 2020 is due because it is possible a lot of things will be left undone at the EC.

“My fear is that we will get so close the next elections, then there will be too many things left undone”.

He therefore warns that if we are not careful the country will experience constitutional crisis in the coming years as we prepare for the General elections in 2020.

He also revealed that they have been warned not to talk about what is going on or else they will be charged with contempt.

“We have been warned not to speak for fear of being cited for contempt. But ladies and gentlemen, if there is anything that is going to lead this country into crisis, I will prefer to talk about it and risk being cited for contempt than to keep quiet for this nation to walk into crisis”.
