School Proprietor Charged With Defrauding By False Pretence For Duping BECE Candidates In Tamale

Police in Tamale has charged the headmaster of Prince of Peace International school with Defrauding by false pretences

Mr. Prince Sulemana Saeed, 28,who doubles as proprietor and headmasters of Prince of Peace International School in Tamale, was arrested on Monday morning for failing to register students of the school for the ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

Saeed reportedly charged each of the 151 students of the school GH₵100 for the registration, amounting to GH₵15,100 but allegedly registered only 75 out of 151 candidates.

He was therefore arrested at the Northern School of Business (NOBISCO) on monday after it was revealed that, some final year students of the school were not registered candidates even though they paid their registration fees through the school

The matter was then reported to the police leading to his arrest

The Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), DSP Mohammed Yusuf Tanko, who confirmed the arrest and the charged said the suspect was currently held in police custody assisting in police investigations.

He urged parents and students of the school to remain calm and provide the police with information to speed up the investigations.

It is alleged that,the affected students were issued fake index numbers

According to DSP Tanko, about 20 students from the school have already giving their statements to the police with Mr. Prince Saeed been processed for court on Wednesday June 6,2018
