Judge Drills Man Over Motion To Release Money

The hope of a man believed to be in his early 40's to have his money GH¢ 2,800, released to him was dashed, when an Accra Circuit Court threw out his motion.

The Court presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku told Mr Kofi Louis that he could not reap where he had not sown.

Mr Kofi Louis was among some persons who were defrauded by one Francis Allotey under the pretext of securing them accommodation.

Some of the people he defrauded testified during the trial and before Allotey was convicted he paid some monies to court, which was later released to those complainants.

According to the Court, the moneys were to be given to those who turned up in Court and gave evidence in the matter.

Mr Louis, although had his name on the case docket, he however, did not turn up during the trial. After the case had gone through trial, Louis resurfaced to claim an amount of GH¢ 2,800.

He failed a drill that the trial judge subjected him to.

Mr Louis failed to mention the name of the trial judge and he could not tell us whether he mounted the witness box to testify in the matter.

The Court noted that his name had been listed among the complainants in the case docket, but he failed to give evidence over the said money he allegedly gave to Allotey and the name of the trial judge.

The trial judge then informed Louis that she was the judge who sat over the matter and convicted Allotey, adding that, Louis was not one of the complainants who mounted the witness box to testify in matter.

According to the trial judge, Allotey during the trial, raised concerns over the number of complainants who claimed he had taken monies from them as rent.

It, therefore, directed Louis to take civil action to claim his money.
