BECE: YBF, Tullow Wish All Candidates Well

Accra, June 4, GNA - The Youth Bridge Foundation (YBF) and Tullow Ghana Limited, has sent a goodwill message to all Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates.

The 2018 BECE starts from Monday June 4 to Friday, June 8, 2018.

A statement signed by Mr Seth Oteng, the Executive Director of YBF and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Monday, said: "We wish to congratulate all of you for your dedication. This is the period of reckoning. We strongly believe in your ability to perform creditably in the examination.

"Indeed, your teachers, parents and well-wishers have over the period prepared you adequately for the task ahead."

It urged the candidates to conduct themselves properly in accordance with the rules and regulations governing the examinations, saying that YBF and Tullow Ghana Limited was confident that candidates would do so to enhance the credibility of the examinations and bring joy to their schools, parents and themselves.

The statement, therefore, called on all supervisors and invigilators to ensure that the needed serene atmosphere is created at all times during the examinations for candidates to write their exams with peaceful minds.

According to the WAEC, a total of 509, 737 candidates would be partaking in this year's BECE.

The candidates are from 16, 058 schools and the exams would be conducted at 1, 768 centres across the country.

Ahead of the 2018 BECE, Tullow Ghana Limited and YBF has empowered close to a 1,000 candidates through science practicals in the Western Region through its Educate to Innovate with STEM project.

This was made possible when YBF held a month-long six in a series Districts road shows BECE Orientation and Science Clinics seminar for 916 candidates in the six Coastal Districts of Western Region.

The Seminar formed part of efforts Tullow Ghana Limited and YBF, have put in place to improve the performance of students in the core subjects of Science and Mathematics at the BECE and West African Secondary Certificate Examination (WASCE) level in the next three years by 50 per cent under the Educate to Innovate with STEM Project.

The project, which is funded by Tullow Ghana Limited and implemented by YBF, a youth focused group with interest in bridging gaps for positive development seeks to empower beneficiaries to imagine, aspire and invent their thoughts into actions that would solve challenges through STEM (Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) .
