An Accra Circuit Court on Friday remanded Christopher Mordey, unemployed, into Police custody for possession of narcotics without authority.

The accused pleaded not guilty and would reappear on Friday, June 15.

Chief Inspector K. Adu told the court presided over by Mr Aboagye Tandoh that complainants were Police personnel stationed at Baatsonaa, whiles the accused person was unemployed and lives at Kotobabi Market area, Baatsonaa.

He said the Kotobabi Market area was a heterogeneous community and has been identified as a hub for criminal activities including narcotic drug peddling and usage.

He said on May 28, at about 1900 hours, the complainants acting on intelligence conducted swoop at Kotobabi Market area and arrested the accused in possession of quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

The Prosecution said the accused in his caution statement in the presence of an independent witness, mentioned one Prince as the real owner but admitted ownership of one wrapped dried leaves also suspected to be Indian hemp. Strenuous.
