Tema, June 1, GNA - The Tema Regional Police Command on Wednesday, arrested 16 suspected drug peddlers at Tema Community Two BBC area.
The arrest followed intelligence gathered by the Command on the activities of some young men at a drinking spot in the area.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Nana Asomah Hinneh, Tema Regional Police Commander, briefing the media, said the swoop which was carried out at about 0500 hours led to the retrieval of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis, tramadol tablets, scissors, and knives among others.
DCOP Hinneh said the suspected drug peddlers would undergo screening and those found culpable would be arraigned before court.
He indicated that the Command had acquired a drone and other logistics to monitor crime and gather intelligence for such operations.
He advised the youth to engage themselves in legitimate profit oriented activities instead of wasting their time and lives on illicit drugs.
