Brong Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs mourns doctors' death

Sunyani Sept 09, GNA - Brong Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs has expressed its condolences to the Ministry of Health, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and the bereaved families of the three urologists who died in a motor accident on the Kumasi-Accra road last month. In a letter to the Chief Executive Officer of Korle Bu Hospital, the House said it had learnt with great shock the tragic death of the three prominent doctors, namely Professor J. K. M. Quartey, Dr Isaac Kofi Bentsi and Dr Benjamin Osei-Wiafe.

The letter, signed by Okatakyie Agyeman Kudom 1V, Nkoranzahene and President of the House, noted the "irreparable loss, which is a national disaster especially in the health sector".

"It is also sad to note that the three urologists were part of a medical team returning from an outreach programme at the Regional Hospital in Sunyani. The death can therefore be described as a great blow to the Regional Hospital and Brong Ahafo as a whole".
