Employment Summit On Nov. 28

The Office of the President, in consultation with the Ministry of Manpower, Youth and Employment, is to organise a presidential employment summit and job fair to fashion out a clear employment policy for the country.

The summit, scheduled for November 28 to 30, this year, will produce concrete and practical strategies for the creation of employment and self-employment opportunities.

In an interview in Accra yesterday, the minister for manpower, youth and employment, Mr Joseph Adda, said the fair would also offer the opportunity for the various ministries to come together, think through strategic plans and develop opportunities for manpower development.

He explained that every ministry had a part to play in creating employment and developing human resource and said that could be achieved with a clear employment policy setting out what each ministry had to do in that direction.

The job fair, which was a side event, according to him, would enable training institutes, employers, industry and businesses to showcase what they did and their employment requirements, while the general public would get to know employment opportunities and how to gain employable skills.
