The Head Pastor, United Pentecost Church International (UPCI), Sakumono Assembly, says the failure of the church to impact meaningfully on the affairs of the world is because emphasis has shifted from the work of God to men of God.

Reverend Bright Owiredu says, 'This is because the emphasis of the work of God is now not on the bible-based church; the emphasis is on me me me.'

He said this on Sunday during the Push Leaders Seminar at the UPCI Community Eight Assembly which educated members of the Church on the need to imbibe spiritual gifts to make the church more powerful and meaningful in the world.

He observed that when pastors outlined their accomplishments in some days past, it was the number of churches they had planted, the number of souls they had won, and the impact the person was making in the lives of people.

'Now it's no more about the impact you're making; it's about how many cars you're driving, the mansions you've put up, and the church buildings you have constructed,' he said.

On corruption, Rev. Owiredu said the canker would always tear the nation's moral fiber asunder and that arrest, exposing and shaming would not wish it away but, 'It is when we come to know God, then it changes the whole dynamics. One won't be corrupt because one knows there's a God out there watching every step.'

According to him, the church Jesus established was a church of power and this power was packaged in supernatural gifts and that these gifts were for every believer.

'If the church were to operate these gifts, there would be no need to consult prophets and pay consultation fees. So we need supernatural gifts to make the church powerful and relevant in our day, 'he opined.

Reverend Isaac Ampate Ampong, the Head Pastor of UPCI, Community Eight Assembly, said most people were not aware of the gift God had given to the church, and that was why the apostolic church was progressing and were able to turn their world upside down.

He informed that the biblical nation Israel prospered because its leaders walked with prophets, and so if the church would sit up and take up its role, it could guide presidents, ministers and the people in our quest for earthy and divine comfort.

'We must realize that we should be the light of the world. Christians should sit up and lead,' he said.
