We need better roads - Prestea-Himan Chief to Bawumia

The Divisional Chief of Prestea-Himan in the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality of the Western Region, Nana Nteboah Prah IV has appealed to the Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia to help his area to get an asphalt road since Prestea is the third largest contributor of gold in Ghana.

Speaking at a gathering when the Vice President paid a visit to Prestea over the weekend to wish all Muslims in the Municipality well in their period of fasting.

Nana Nteboah commended the NPP government for introducing the Free Senior High School policy and the Nation Builders Corps for the development of the country.

He said the road networks in the Municipality are very terrible especially the one at Himan and therefore said need to be done to facelift the area.

He admonished that though Prestea is one of the major contributors of gold to the country's development but successive governments have failed to develop the area especially road networks in the area.

He added that this time around the NPP government when let the good people of Prestea-Huni Valley Municipality down.

He also urged the Vice President to intervene in the collapsing of state owned mining company, Prestea Sankofa Gold since for about a year now workers of Prestea Sankofa have not received their salary and work is at stand still.

On his part Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Alhaji Bawumia thanked the Chief and his people for the kind reception and assured of helping solve their problems.

He urged the Muslims to be holy through the period of the Ramadan and stay away from evil and also therefore appealed to them to pray steadfastly for the country and the NPP government led by President Akufo-Addo.

The Vice President took the oppoturinity to worship with Prestea Central Mosque and donated one thousand bags of cement to Prestea Central Mosque.

After Prestea, the Vice President together with his entourage moved to Tarkwa Central Mosque in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality to observe the Magrib prayer with the Muslim people in the area.

The Vice President wished them well in the period of the Holy Fasting and also appealed to them to remain in holy.

He used the opportunity to urge them to be united and rally behind President Akufo-Addo led administration to develop the country.

Speaking to the media after the Magrib prayer, the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. George George Duker expressed his profound gratitude to the Vice President for visiting his Constituency as part of his Nationwide Ramadan tour.

Hon. Duker appealed to Ghanaians to be religious tolerant and therefore urged other Religions to see Muslims as brothers and sisters.

He. also appealed to the Muslims in the country especially Muslims in his area to use the Ramadan period to pray for the peace of this country.

The Vice President received arousing welcome by the people of Tarkwa and NPP party members.
