Preventive Health Awareness Network Ghana [PHAN Ghana], a local non-profit organization in partnership with Lampkin International (USA) reached out 13 schools in the Sene East and West Districts in the Brong Ahafo Region of Ghana.

The CEO of Lampkin International (USA), who is also the sponsor of PHAN Ghana’s “Project Healthy Schools” and a team from PHAN Ghana visited 13 schools on PHAN Ghana’s flagship project – “Project Healthy Schools”. All the 13 schools visited benefited from school supplies brought from the States for students in Primary, Junior High and Senior High Schools in the Sene East and West Districts.

Three [3] of the 13 schools were visited by the joint teamwhile handing over the five Well projects on the 14th and 15th May, 2018. Ten [10] other schools including Kajaji Senior High School were visited on the 16th and 17th May, 2018 in the Sene East District.

With funding from Lampkin International (USA), PHAN Ghana and Lampkin International (USA) established hand washing centers in 9 Junior High Schools and one in Kajaji Senior High School. The schools also benefited from hand washing materials and other school supplies. The team educated and demonstrated to students and teachers proper hand washing practices and encouraged them to practice regular hand washing, in school and at home. With the provision of these hand washing materials, students and teachers could now afford to wash their hands under running water after cleaning the compound, visiting the toilet, after teaching etc. Adolescent girls in these schools also received hygiene/sanitary supplies, donated by Felicia Lampkin of Lampkin International (USA).

It is also heartwarming to note that one of the 13 schools visited – Bassa African Faith Junior High School has been lucky to be selected byLampkin International (USA) and PHAN Ghana for a sponsorship to construct a classroom facility initiated by the teaching staff of the above school. Funding has however been made available by Felicia Lampkin of Lampkin International (USA) to complete a classroom project for Bassa African Faith Junior School.

It’s rather unfortunate the District Chief Executive for Sene East couldn’t make time to meet PHAN Ghana and the International partner from the US, while we were in the Sene East District for our project activities. However, the team is happy to state that the Member of Parliament for Sene East Constituency – Honourable Dominic Nampare took time out of his busy schedules and met with PHAN Ghana and Lampkin International (USA). The MP agreed to partner with Lampkin International (USA)and PHAN Ghana to complete the classroom project for Bassa African Faith Junior High School. He also registered his willingness to collaborate with PHAN Ghana and Lampkin International (USA) in working to improve the lives of the vulnerable and the less privileged in his Constituency.
